110 kick start the BBAC 2015 Running Season

Hi all

An excellent start to the season with the rain staying away and 66 adults runners and walkers on hand.

29 did the 6k which was won by Jenny Downing from Gary Rosenberg and Dave Robinson.
31 did the 3k won by Reef McNally from Tahlia McNally and Steph Kalamvokis.
Finally, we had 6 who did the 3k walk, our new category and point score. This category is just for those who cannot run, do not want to run at all or have a long term injury which will see them walk all year. This is not the category to start walking and then slowly build into full run. Peter Fenwick beat Colin Jennings and Maddison Daley.
There were  also 45 children who took part in the 1.5km race. Noah Doran was first across the line in 4.50, closely followed by last years winner Alexia Kalamvokis and Cooper Daley was 3rd. It was great to see so many parents get involved to ensure the safety of the kids.
The children will race over the same distance next week, however the race will be handicapped on their best times.
Please find attached the season running  programs for both the adults and children.
To assist in getting the adult events started at 8.30am, please attempt to be registered with John Smith by 8.20am. Children should register with Kirsty or Jemma by 9.20am.
See you next week and welcome to all our new members, we hope you enjoy the season.

Race Results Sunday 24 August 2014

Great turn up in the childrens race today with 29 taking part in the last 1.5km race. Evelyn Cusack was our first person home in 6.20 and broke her time by 40 seconds. It was a great effort by Evelyn who is only 6 years of age.

Finn Wood was second and Sienna McNamara out foxed Tristian to come in third.

There are only 2 weeks left, and with the leader missing todays race the pointscore has opened up.

Alexia maintains her lead in 483 points, Cooper 471, Max 464, Joe 463, Tristian 448 and Grace 447.

Please remember that the end of Season Pointscore will be on Saturday the 18 October 2014 at Brighton RSL at 6pm.  We would really like everyone to attend to celebrate the season.

Results 17 August 2014

Well done to all the runners who attended on our first rainy Sunday for the 2014 season. Numbers were down in all races which allowed the brave souls who attended an opportunity to increase their pointscore leads with only 3 weeks remaining.

In the Childrens 1 km race, Tristian was first in 6.40 followed by Alexia in 4.17. Max was 3rd 4.27, Cooper 4th 4.28, Joe 5th 5.22 and Adam 6th in 6.00.

Attached are todays and last weeks childrens results along with the pointscore.

Alexia has a big lead, however 1 missed week will so her hand the yellow jersey over to either Cooper or Joe so I suggest you set your alarm clock.

Race Results Sunday 27th July

This morning the 30 BBAC children raced over 1km on the grueling soft sand over 1km. Oscar Halliday, who has been our biggest improver of late crossed the line 1st again to break his previous best by 47 seconds (5.58).

Joe Doran was second in 5.16 (not bad for a 6yr old) and Claudia Halliday was 3rd in 6.26.

Oscar informed his rivals that he only ate an apple and Nutri Grain for breakfasts however I’m wondering if he has found Stephen Danks hidden stash of peptides.

Alexia Kalamvokis broke the orevious 1km soft sand record for the Club, crossing the line in 4.25min. It is an accurate course measured and cross checked by Garmin. I think she has Anibal covered over this distance on sand!

Alexia maintains her lead in the pointscore with six weeks remaining, however there are a dozen children in striking distance so she will need to maintain her form if she is to retain her Crown from last season. ( No pressure Alexia)

Next week is the Lance Carter 2km trophy race for the Children.

See you next weekend

Pete

Race Results 6 July 2014

Excellent attendance today with 26 fronting up to race the 2km race. It was an all boy affair today with the Sozomenou youngsters cleaning up. First was Jack followed by William. Tristian Grueninger placed third and Adrian Valinger was fourth.

Alexia Kalamvokis had the fastest time (7.31) , which beats Dane Mitchells previous record by 4 seconds. I look forward to the rematch as these two are flying.

In the pointscore Alexia has extended her lead, followed by Cooper and this seasons dark horse ” Leo Carleton”. There are 8 pointscore weeks left which leaves  plenty of time for those I havent mentioned to catch up.

1st Alexia 273

2nd Cooper 259

3rd Leo 257

4th Max 256

5th Dane 254

6th Charlie 253
